As far as taking a trip is concerned, it doesn’t matter how far you go. What really matters is how much you see and know through the trip ,travelling not just through physical space but through an infinite one with endless possibilities.

Goa is probably the most popular tourist destination of India and even though it is a small place it attracts a lot of people from all around the world. This small place with a big heart has always welcomed its guests with friendly embrace yet recently this haven has been exploited rather than being experienced. Maybe because of the crass and cliched image created by the entertainment industry of Goa being some sort of a Sin city. Hence we can see tourists coming here on long weekends for short trips and not truly experiencing the real vibes of Goa. The slow and soothing vibrations that flow through the unwinding and silent paths of the place. To truly experience this subtle undercurrent of peace and energy, when in Goa, keep it slow, as there is so much more here to see and know…

I found this bit of clarity by taking a long trip of my own, although not far away from home. On an October Sunday hanging over from the past night I took a trip through time and endless space. My mind and body were tired pacing through a working week. But my friends at the Bicycle trip Goa had the best remedy fro my overall fatigue. A riverside bicycle ride through the beautiful and ageless city of Panaji and along the perennial Mandovi river, almost like an embodiment of time flowing through reality.

Now many of you will claim that you have been to and seen Panaji, but you surely haven’t experienced the city if you hurried through desperate not to miss anything. To really soak it in, you need to slow down as we did. Cruising on our cycles through the silent streets we got in touch with the pace of the place. The ride took us to heritage sites and through these monuments we took a stroll into the past and also saw them in the light of the present, understood their relevance to history and discussed our own place in the grand scheme of life. Each street has a story of its own and we read it slowly through our smoother strides. We worked up a healthy appetite after a fair bit of peddling, so we stopped by for some local snacks at a local place and then cruised along the riverside with the true flavours of the city in our bodies and in our minds.
