I had such a fantastic time on the Vintage Goa tour with Abhinav. As a solo female traveler, I wasn’t sure what to expect being alone on the tour but Abhi was extremely professional, respectful and friendly. We started off in the centre of Panjim near the Fontainhas neighbourhood, where Abhi helped me get my bike and helmet set up and explained our itinerary for the day. From here we headed towards Velha Goa with stops roughly every 5km to look at historic buildings and learn about the associated history. It’s clear that Abhi has done so much research into the area and this really shines through with his fascinating and engaging stories. Likewise, Abhi clearly knows Goa and its roads like the back of his hand. I really appreciated that when I mentioned my interest in food and architecture, he made some slight customisations to the route so that I could experience the best of them with surprise food stops and additional information about the history of the surrounding architecture. As well as this, Abhi provides plentiful snacks along the way. The route is 50km with around 350m elevation gain, so more than manageable for anyone with cycling experience. Even if you’re less experienced, Abhi is happy to go at your pace. We started off at 6am (and saw a wonderful sunrise over the mandovi river!) so the weather wasn’t too hot at first, but as we neared 9am it began to be a lot hotter and harder work. Don’t forget your suncream and lots of water! Overall, I’m so glad to have experienced this tour. It really made my experience in Panjim. Don’t hesitate to book!

I have been on numerous bike tours. I think bike touring is the best way to experience a place. I’ve done city tours and multi-day tours. This was among the best. Abhinav is not only a very well-prepared, professional guide, he is also a genuinely good human being who cares deeply about cycling, the environment, and India. I experienced a lot. I was physically challenged, and culturally rewarded. The tour took about 7 hours, and we were riding much of that time. Lots of low-traffic roads, back lanes and even on some trails… I felt safe and well attended the entire time. Abhi brought hot beverages and plenty of snacks.

We had such an incredible time on this bike tour of Old Goa! Being on a bike allowed us to see things we otherwise wouldn’t have, and Abhinav was extremely knowledgeable about Goa and its history. From the initial email booking to the snacks to the post-ride dinner recommendations, everything was perfect. I can’t wait to return to Goa and take one of the other longer rides.

This tour was simply amazing! Could have not asked anything better! Guides were awesome, we had amazing local breakfast in a really lovely vacation home in Divar island. Owner of that place was really friendly and showed us around the place. It was nice to see a bit different side of the state. It was not simply just a bike tour but as well you got to see amazing heritage, culture and history that you would not meet the other way. When in Goa, bike tour with these amazing people is a must!

Thank you again for the wonderful bike tour! We enjoyed spending the day with you both and learned a great deal about your beautiful country. Your gracious company, the lovely lunch, and all the tasty treats, made our tour extra special. Today we’ve been eagerly sharing our fantastic day with our group here on the ship. Thank you again for a perfect day! Stan and Joanne

The Bicycle Life
Our quest to advocate cycling is not just driven by the fact that cycling is awesome but also due to the rise in our urban community issues.
Case in point, the number of vehicles in Goa are growing at a rate of 13.9% and as of 2016, it had the highest vehicle density in India with 551 cars per 1000 people. Resident and traveling population also make Goa’s per capita consumption of petrol six times that of the national average.
The great architect and urban planner of Goan origin, Charles Correa , had warned about the current chaotic traffic scenario as far back as 1972. If better decisions were not taken then and are not taken now, we won’t be able to make a difference and provide solutions for Goa’s exploding…
