The benefits of a bicycle are not a mystery. It shows tangible results in the form of reduced air pollutants, lesser noise pollution and de-congesting public spaces. At an individual level, it leads to a fitter lifestyle. Most important of the lot are the intangible and soft benefits of riding a bicycle. Riding a bicycle versus maneuvering a tin box (or Car as it is widely known) significantly reduces rage and arrogance. It is hard to be in a bad mood when the cool breeze grazes your warm cheeks.
But it is easy to be frustrated with life when all the tin boxes line up bumper to bumper with your only respite being your neck-craning, thumb-numbing Social Media or the radio which won’t play your song or even worse the air conditioning which gives cool air but fails to cool you down.
All our frustrations with motorized vehicles aside, a bicycle can really change your life. Of course if you’re a cog in the wheel of capitalism you will look for a “faster more efficient version” of even a bicycle. In this section of our journal, we will pick one reason every week on why cycling is awesome.
